Rhylee - Senior High School Photography from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

Truth is: there's nothing "senior" about her, other than the fact that she's in Grade 12.  Rhylee is the daughter of one of my absolutely favorite clients and Real Estate Agents, Donna Kirsch.  Donna and I have been planning this session for so long, I think Rhylee was still in diapers! (oh, the exaggeration! Not diapers, but for sure still in grade 9!)

The day came for us to do this and as we were driving with Donna to the different locations we decided that there's so much more we want to do yet, this is merely part one!

I am usually pretty assertive (a nice word for bossy) regarding posing and candid shots and ideas, but I was no match for Rhylee's incredible ease in front of the camera.  All I did was point and click and have a good time.  I am convinced that Rhylee watches "America's Next Top Model" religiously and memorizes every move!

Here's some of the images.

One of the things I love about Rhylee's mom is that she's thoughtful and imaginative.  In Grade 6, Rhylee helped to raise money for Cinder, a police dog to get her bullet proof vest.  So, to surprise her, Donna tracked down Cinder and got her trainer, Rob, to bring her to the park so Rhylee could get some shots with her.

We were shooting in the park when Donna comes over and tells Rhylee that a man agreed to let her take some pictures with his dog.  Rhylee loves dogs, so she was super pumped.  Then she noticed that the dog had a Police vest.  She asked the dog's name and when Rob answered that her name was Cinder, the look on Rhylee's face was like that of a kid that has just been told her daddy owns the candy store!

There was no high school senior there at that moment.  Just a little kid and her dog...

Rhylee, you are a beautiful girl.  Never ever change.

Donna, you're absolutely wonderful and an amazing client.  Love ya!

Let's do this again when you get your prom dress honey!

To tell you the truth, I've lost count on how many years we've been doing family pictures with Michelle, Ken, Braeden and Ryan...  This is probably our 6th year already!  Isn't that crazy?  Well, these guys are like family to me.  Our kids have known each other since Ryan and Gabriela were 6 months old back at Terrilynn's home day care.

I like to reminisce about those days when they would run to each other and do a little dance every time they met...  They don't really do that anymore (though it would be soooo cute!) but they are still best friends in their own way (the way 8 year olds are best friends - only better) and they are still in the same school, same grade - this is the first year that they're not in the same class, but rest assured they'll be in the same bus to Steamboat Springs Colorado next Spring Break when we escape reality and go hang out and ski together.

There's so many reasons why I love this family, and you've only heard one for now, but Michelle is truly one of my favorite people!  She's smart, witty and every time we've skiied together, she's taken one day to ski with me.  This means a lot to me because frankly, I SUCK!  And she's really really good, so I'm quite privileged to have a private instructor like her.... Oh enough mooshy stuff!  We just love these guys plain and simple!  Ken is a great friend, and a load of fun to talk to.  He's also a closet Martha Stewart and he does most of the colour picking at home.  Sorry Ken, it's the truth man!

Michelle, thank you for again trusting me with preserving your family memories!

Here's some of my favorite shots, but be sure to check out the slideshow below!

We went for an urban look this year, since we've done everything from fall to Skiing... so here we are.  I can tell the boys really liked this!

 Here's the family.

It's hard to tell here who's goofing around more!

I love how Ryan, though completely goofy, always knows where the camera is!

Here's a nice one!

One of my favorite ones of Ryan here.  I have a feeling he'll think the same!

Here's another favorite.  Gorgeous!  I'll have no problem letting this boy into the family if I ever have to!  (enough said, we don't want to jinx it!)

I just love this one of Braedy!

And this is possibly the first EVER shot I have of Braedy where he's not squinting! I love how he looks menacing here.  Braedy is all kindness and he is the most loving kid you'll ever meet!

This little smile here says a lot.

For the slideshow, I'm sorry guys, but I don't have any Metallica or AC/DC so I picked a song that describes what I think you want out of life, to live it fully, more than fine, more than just ok... It's a song by Switchfoot.

Not payback in the way that you think.  But the opposite.

The kind where you do something for someone as a thank you for everything that they do for you.

In this case, it's my brother and his wife, Ivo and GeorgiAnn.

She picks up my kids from school, feeds them, and treats them like her own.

He always fixes my computer problems and let's face it: being my little brother couldn't have been easy... I have vivid memories of torturing him to play house with me and dressing him up however I wanted to... No details...

So here I was with my camera trying to make up for all that.   It wasn't hard.  They're beautiful and they knew what they wanted.  They wanted an urban adventure to capture the fact that they're always downtown with Lovissa (6) having Dim Sum or taking her to Theatre Class.

You will notice that there's more images on this post than any other post that I've ever done.  Sorry.  If you want more images on your post too, then I have a cute little brother (25) who's still single and could use a good woman.  Let me know if you're interested and we'll hook you up!

Here's Lovissa being the cutest thing in the world:

And here's the gorgeous family:

Here's Ivo and GeorgiAnn trying to dance:

Then Lovissa stopped them and here she is giving them a few pointers:

Now that's better!

See, the thing is, when we were little and my dad would take pictures of us, it was rare when Ivo didn't make a silly face.  I still hear my mom's voice saying: "oh, Ivo had to make a face!". So here's the silly face:

Family sitting on the road:

Here's the silly face again!

And then to finish off, here's the shot we do every time I take pictures of them:

Thanks guys for letting me boss you around once again!

Lovissa, you're such a cutie pie and I love taking pictures of you!  I love when you come for a sleep over and I love when you tell me how you like me better than your school photographer!

I know you're really good at typing, so leave me a comment ok?

Love you all!

Oh and here's the slideshow! Click here!

ps - for all ladies interested to find out who's still available, here he is!!!!  Looking hot in Hawaii!!!

She's been emailing me for months and I feel like I've known her FOREVER!  It's one of those cases where someone sees the Images I did for someone they know and before you know it, they stalk me on my blog and Facebook day and night and I LOVE IT!!!

Kelly told me and she and her daughter Carissa had a really neat relationship and she wanted to capture that: "life is too short" were her exact words.  I like that.  I like it when people want beautiful images to tell the story of their relationship because that's where I come in!

So after a whole lot of planning and rescheduling and buying props and renting horses (not kidding!), we went out to Miracle Ranch and had a blast.  They're alike allright: both of them crazy (which by now you know it's just my kind of people!).

Here's a sneak peek at some of the shots.  Slideshow coming soon...

Carissa's boyfriend came along (to carry my gear mostly, so we took some pictures of the two of them as well):

Kelly got these matching tops and Shades to goof around in...

 And goof around they did!

And in the end Kelly had a little card for her daughter... I don't know what it said but it was quite emotional...

Thank you Kelly for picking me to record this wonderful time in your life when your daughter is old enough to treat you with respect and young enough to still think you're cool...

Very cool indeed.

Stay tuned for your slideshow coming soon!

I'll admit that I'm biased about this one.  How can I not be?  I've known her since she was Gabriela's age (8) and she was a cute little thing, very shy and friendly and just learning English (so was I!)...

Our parents were friends and we hung out quite a bit.  Her sister Fabi was the feisty one, always talking and always causing a little trouble!  So she made Vivian look like an angel!  And she is an angel! And you know what else?  She's Brazilian!  Which makes her the kind of angel that's just naughty enough... Like me :)

Her mom is one of my favorite people (Mom, in case you're reading, You're my favorite too!!) !  She keeps my life in order every two weeks and makes sure that my clients always see a clean workplace...

So when I heard that Vivian was engaged to Anthony, this tall, handsome man she had been bringing around, I was thrilled!  Even more thrilled when they picked me to photograph their upcoming May wedding!

Thank you Vivian and thank you Tante Rosi!  You guys are the best!  Check out a link to your slideshow at the bottom of this page!

What better way to KICK OFF my new KICKIN' Website than to have a brand new shiny blog post!!  And a fall family session at that!

This family is extremely special to me, because Lesia was Sabrina's Kindergarten teacher last year and she's so incredibly organized and gifted that she had her reading by the time she turned 5 in December and reading Chapter Books by Spring Break!  Her classroom is a well oiled machine and I'm so thankful for all that she did for Sabrina last year...

I've had the priviledge to photograph these guys last year, and I'm happy to report that they're growing up just beautifully and politely (what else did you expect?).

 Here's a few shots...

The kids wanted to see the Ducks and I just love how the light filters through and how Helena has her leg up.

Thank you Lesia and Yuri for letting me photograph your beautiful family!

(Warning, long journal entry, but the story makes the pictures!)

Everyday when I get up, I know I'm blessed. I'm blessed more than I even know and I KNOW!

I have an amazing husband that would do absolutely anything for me, two gorgeous girls that are the most precious thing in my life, a wonderful family all around and a job that I love.

Sure, there's hard times and there's times when all I do is work, but I know that what I do is more than just "take pictures". I have the opportunity to capture stories and leave a legacy for generations to come.

(I know I sound cheesy, but those of you who know me, also know that I AM CHEESY!!!)

So, last year when Simone called me up, she said that her parents had been married for 40 years and had a really "neat" living situation and she would like me to do a Lifestyle Session for them.  A Lifestyle session is so much more than a Portrait Session... It's like a Portrait Session on Steroids! (not really, please!)

I waited for Carol to call me and she did! She gave me directions to her place and said: "don't expect a house. We don't live in a house."

For the record, stuff like that gets me really excited!

When I arrived I saw a large large LARGE garage with an industrial size garage door and a regular house door beside it. Carol & Denis emerged from the little door and greeted me warmly.  I was fascinated when I walked in. White, shinny tile flooring with a big... well, look:

Yep, big HUGE Semi Cab attached to a 5th Wheel Trailer.

That's where they live! In the Trailer, inside a nice warm, clean garage with a laundry and kitchen and their bedroom and closet are IN THE TRAILER! Then, after Christmas, they close their trailer doors and open the big garage door and head out to Texas for the harshest part of winter.

But do you know what struck me instantly as I walked in? There was no stuff! None!

There was a large dining table with chairs and a big screen tv. That's it! Oh, and so much love!

What a life!

Yesterday I went back there to show them their slideshow in DVD format since they don't have high speed internet out in the country. We sat down, had tea and cookies and watched the slideshow together.

Carol then told me how nervous they both were the morning of the photoshoot, not knowing what to expect, but then in her words: "as soon as you walked through the door, Patty, I relaxed and you made us feel so good".

Well, what can I say... I'm blessed. I'm blessed to love my job, to think that what I do makes a difference.

Here's what else I know: these pictures are something that Carol & Denis and their kids and grandkids will treasure forever and ever.

Enough talking. On to the pictures.

Here's Denis styling on his GoldWing.

Almost 41 years and loving each other so strongly! Beautiful!

Couldn't pass up the boot shot!

Now we're talking!

Denis plays guitar and we had to get some guitar shots. Carol says she can listen to him playing the guitar and singing all the time.

So I wanted to do some shots of Denis with his guitar in the field.

Here's his Roadie.

These are my absolute favorite.

When I told them that I would make them a slideshow set to music, Carol asked me if Denis could sing for that. YES YES YES!

So, what you hear is Denis' voice throughout. And his beautiful guitar playing.

Simone, I'd like to thank you for this wonderful opportunity to meet your parents and capture this memory for you all.

Now, on to the slideshow! Click here!
