Oh you think I'm a sap?  You think I talk about how much I love weddings too often?  You haven't seen anything... I know that I ALWAYS have amazing clients, but this year tops them all... Every single client is thoughtful, loves vintage weddings, pays attention to details and is absolutely, amazingly, in love!

Kris and Lindsay are no exception.  See if for yourself here:

I absolutely love the details of Lindsay's dress:

Her mom gifted her this hair piece.

    Mmmmm, shoes...

Hello!!  Her sister had this kicking around her apartment.  What  amazing sense of style...

    Hello!

    The gorgeous girls:

    Waiting for Lindsay...

    So in love!

I just love how you can almost hear their laughter here.

Yes, it's out of focus, don't you love it?

The other Chris in the wedding party had to put on a little show... I promised him he'd end up on the internet.

Do they know that when they do that I HAVE to put it up on the blog?

    Love these!

    It was hot in there!

It's nice to have some extra time for a few drinks... and A/C

I love this following shot, right when Father Paul was praying his blessing on the couple, two car alarms started going off in the nearby parking lot... Here's the couple's reaction:

Here's Leanora and Jared's Video Fusion.  Thank you so much to my fabulous friend, Jeremy Dueck, for taking a perfectly good Saturday and making it even more perfect!  Jeremy took the day off to spend it shooting Leanora & Jared's wedding with me.  He did all of the video snippets and some candid portraits as well.  Thank you thank you thank you, my friend!

    Onto the video!

Leanora & Jared from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

Leanora is one of those women that could have walked out of a movie set any day of the week.  She has this walk, this look, this talk... Now imagine that on a wedding day! Yep, here she is!

The whole day had this feeling about it... Romantic...

And when Jared saw her for the first time, I'm thinking he felt the same way:

Breezy Bend was the venue  and they did a fabulous job decorating the place where the ceremony would take place, outside.  So fabulous in fact, we couldn't resist doing some relaxed portraits there.

The greatest thing about seeing each other before the ceremony, is that the couple gets a whole hour on their wedding day, all by themselves... I think that's absolutely priceless!

And in case you were wondering, this is what I look like on a good day!

    To get this shot:

Girls are girls...  These ones were a LOT of fun!

The boys were also having just a little bit of fun...

    I love this following shot:

And this is me, being very very helpful on the wedding day...

Then, we went off to the canola fields but the rain had just started and someone thought this was a very bad idea, right Matt?

    Jeremy caught this sweet moment:

The staff at Breezy Bend, again, amazing.

I love this part.  I always say that the speeches is where it's at.  This is where all the good, the bad and the ugly comes out and the true emotion shows.  My couples rarely even notice that I'm firing away, capturing every emotion.

Matt's Best Man speech was one of the best Best Man speeches that I've ever heard.   And most agreed, as you can see...

    The dance was so beautiful...

Then Christian tore up the dance floor, almost literally...

I just love this next shot of Leanora...

What a marvelous day this was, Leanora and Jared.  Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of it.

I feel like I made friends that day, that will forever be a part of my life.

Here's Kathleen & Colin's Video-Fusion!  To download this video and watch it over and over and over on your computer, just go here to my iTunes store!

Kathleen & Colin from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

Kathleen called me two days before Oliver came into the world.  She said something like: "I really love your work and I'd really love to meet with you, but I'm having my baby any day now and won't be able to come and see you!" Yikes!  I put her in my calendar and as soon as she was able to have people over, I went for a little visit!

Oliver is an absolute joy (as you've seen in the video) and he's been welcomed into this family with open arms!

It's such a privilege to be there all day long with the couple and their friends, and really get to know them... But it's my great blessing to be able to see just how in love they are... When I recorded Colin and Kathleen's vows I heard a little whisper when she first got up to the altar... he said to her "You look absolutely gorgeous..." his voice was raspy and you could detect the emotion with which he said those words...

Kathleen, you're a lucky girl! And Colin, you're a VERY very lucky guy!

    Here's some of your images.

Oliver was the ring bearer but he fell asleep going down the aisle...  Here he is, sleeping in grandpa's arms.

Then mom dropped off his bottle. How cute is that?

Just look at this porcelain doll!

Kathleen works at the Leg, so this was a very special place for pictures for her.

The day turned crazy cold, but we managed to get some sunset shots.

     Kathleen's dress is absolutely stunning!

Some of my favorite shots below: it was cold and we rushed into the buildings to warm up.

Thanks to everyone in the party for braving the weather and making it look like fun out there!

Thank you Kathleen and Colin.  Let's book a spring session for a trash the dress eh?

Love you and have a wonderful start of your lives together!

Here's Ivy & Ryan's Video-Fusion!  To download this video and watch it over and over and over on your computer, just go here to my iTunes store!

Ivy & Ryan from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

Ivy & Ryan booked me 2 years ago!  Yes, they love me... and I them!  I feel like we've known each other for so long... we're almost like family.

Ivy is the cutest cuddliest groom and Ivy is the sweetest (and really really gorgeous) philipino Marilyn Monroe type bride!

They met in grade 9, where they spent recesses and lunches together, went for walks, had the same friends, became part of each other's family and eventually got engaged and married.  Can you believe it?  Grade 9?  And they've been best friends and completely in love ever since!

I was very much looking forward to this day!  To top it off, Mike Tinholt, of Tinholt Photography  came out to shoot second with me.  Mike is very talented and easy to get along with!  We had a great time together and it took me forever to edit the images down!  Thanks Mike, I look forward to shooting with you again!

Here's some images, more on the story later.

Ryan and Ivy got married in my favorite Cathedral in Winnipeg - The St Mary's Cathedral.  Isn't it gorgeous? The doves were fun, but a tiny bit scary!

When I met with Ivy and Ryan to finalize the details of the wedding, they told me that they envisioned the photography of their day to be done at an abandoned barn, in the middle of a big field! Yay!  I love that kind of stuff, so I asked them which barn and they replied: Dunno, could you find us one?

    Could I?

    Sure!  And I did!

I took this shot (left), while Mike took the other one (right).  Isn't that cool?

    Ryan's boys:

    In the air:

    The barn!

    LOVE the veil!

Ryan & Ivy used to have lunches (in grade 9!) at this DQ.

So, this ring shot is only fitting:

    I love Ivy's bouquet toss!

    Line dancing!

    And the final dance shot:

Thank you Ryan & Ivy for making me part of your day and your life... All the best to you as you continue this journey together!

Here's Amanda & Matt's Video-Fusion!  To download this video (FREE) and watch it over and over and over on your computer, just go here to my iTunes store!

Amanda & Matt - Wedding photography in Winnipeg from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

If it's at all possible that I fell in love with every single client that I had this year, then I did.  I truly did.  And if you look back on my blog, you'll see why... They're all amazing.

Amanda and Matt fall into this category quite easily...  Our relationship started when we met last October, continued over the phone - they live in Toronto - and got stronger when we did the Engagement Pictures back in the spring...  I know what you're thinking: I'm such a suck! And I am!

Amanda and Matt are so in love that it's breathtaking... and it shows!  When Amanda told me about her pink dress I was so excited!  Then she told me she wanted an "edge" to her wedding pictures, and I was absolutely exhilarated!  To top it all, my good friend and the reason I am where I am in photography, Trevor Brucki, came out to shoot with me!  He got a little bossy at times, just like I do when I go out to second shoot with him (apparently!) and we had so much fun, I had a hard time editing down the images for the slideshow (I'm sure you noticed!).

Thank you Trevor for the great images and good times!

    Amanda & Matt, enjoy!

Ok, folks, does she NOT look exactly like Gwen Stefani?  Better actually!

Here's something really sweet.  Her dad, Ed Toews, surprised her when she came home for the wedding, by painting her childhood home HOT PINK, and placing childhood mementos all over the white shelf that he ordered specifically for this occasion.  Amanda's mom said this room will go right back to beige once the wedding is done, but I vote to keep it pink!  It's so awesome!

Now, if you want to be driven around in style, you've got to get yourself one of these!  Bohdan has a sweet motor-home that he took to drive around the Wedding Party!

This is one of the many awesome shots that Trevor took.

I've never seen the Conservatory look so good!

Then we went a little edgy!

    Then A LOT edgy!

    Just look at these two!

Though Amanda spent most of the day in her high heels - we had to get the Converse Runners in there!

     Awesome car!

Amanda's Grandfather is the cutest thing in the world and he used to be a wedding photographer, using Medium Format back in the day.  Really back in the day!!!  This was his camera of choice for the wedding day.  Can't wait to see the pictures, Grandpa!

Trevor and I teamed up for some Vintage veil shots and some very technical lighting! ;)

Apparently Grandpa requested Trevor to take this shot.  I LOVE IT!

And here we are!  Me and my new friends.

Trevor, thank you for the million shots and video!

Amanda and Matt, you will be forever part of my life and I hope to be the same to you.

Love you lots and let's book that Brazil trip for your trash the dress!  Let's not really trash this cute thing though...

Here's Rhylee's Video-Fusion!  To download this video and watch it over and over and over on your computer, just go here to my iTunes store!

Rhylee - Senior High School Photography from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

Truth is: there's nothing "senior" about her, other than the fact that she's in Grade 12.  Rhylee is the daughter of one of my absolutely favorite clients and Real Estate Agents, Donna Kirsch.  Donna and I have been planning this session for so long, I think Rhylee was still in diapers! (oh, the exaggeration! Not diapers, but for sure still in grade 9!)

The day came for us to do this and as we were driving with Donna to the different locations we decided that there's so much more we want to do yet, this is merely part one!

I am usually pretty assertive (a nice word for bossy) regarding posing and candid shots and ideas, but I was no match for Rhylee's incredible ease in front of the camera.  All I did was point and click and have a good time.  I am convinced that Rhylee watches "America's Next Top Model" religiously and memorizes every move!

    Here's some of the images.

One of the things I love about Rhylee's mom is that she's thoughtful and imaginative.  In Grade 6, Rhylee helped to raise money for Cinder, a police dog to get her bullet proof vest.  So, to surprise her, Donna tracked down Cinder and got her trainer, Rob, to bring her to the park so Rhylee could get some shots with her.

We were shooting in the park when Donna comes over and tells Rhylee that a man agreed to let her take some pictures with his dog.  Rhylee loves dogs, so she was super pumped.  Then she noticed that the dog had a Police vest.  She asked the dog's name and when Rob answered that her name was Cinder, the look on Rhylee's face was like that of a kid that has just been told her daddy owns the candy store!

There was no high school senior there at that moment.  Just a little kid and her dog...

Rhylee, you are a beautiful girl.  Never ever change.

Donna, you're absolutely wonderful and an amazing client.  Love ya!

Let's do this again when you get your prom dress honey!

Here's Tamara & Colin's Video-Fusion!  To download this video and watch it over and over and over on your computer, just go here to my iTunes store!

Tamara & Colin from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

You see, the thing about Tamara is that she's intentional.  There's many other ways to describe her, using such words as kind, thoughtful, beautiful, smart, the list goes on.  But the one that sticks out in my head is simply intentional.  From when she was little, she had an idea of what her wedding was going to look like.  She planned it carefully, thoughtfully and intentionally.  From the shape of her veil, to the location of her reception, the food served at the dinner, and the bubbles blown as she and her groom exited the church, every detail was thought of.  Intentionally.

We met over a year ago and from the first moment, I knew I loved her!  I loved her passion for life and for the story.  Her story,  and everyone's story.  It'll come as no surprise to you that she is a journalist by trade.  She captures the story, she tells it in her words and all of it is real.  Intentional.

She wanted the same when it came to her story.  Nothing must be faked, nothing exaggerated, nothing missed.  The church where they got married in Cook's Creek had a story, and The Legislative grounds where we took their pictures also had a story: it's where she and Colin met.  How cool is that.

Tamara, you're a dream bride to work with and you have found in Colin a wonderful man that loves you and GETS IT!

Enough chit chat.  Here's some images.  Brace yourself.  It's my longest post yet!

    Rings on a bowl:

    I just love Tamara & Colin's home:

Ok, I walked into this church and almost fell over when I saw the chandelier!  You know how I feel about chandeliers!  Aren't you just in love with this shot right now??

    Bubblelicious!

    Helloooo!

    Crazy fun wedding party:

Here's your tunnel shots Tamara!  I have to thank you for letting me get creative here!

Tamara has been dancing in a Ukrainian Dance Group FOREVER!  And they were hired to perform at her wedding - I was lucky enough to just be there! I took a million pictures and if you were a dancer here and you would like some of these images, just leave me a comment below and I'll get them to you!

    Seriously?

Ok, I can't even do this sitting on the floor, never mind high up in the air!

Now that's just showing off! ;)

Thank you thank you thank you.  Colin, you're a wonderful man  (and may I add that you clean up nicely!) and Tamara, you're someone that I know will be a long time friend!

All the best in your life together.  Here's a flaring parting shot:

Chantel & Paul from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

I love a day like this one.  Perfect weather, good moods and beautiful people.  Though perfect weather is not always a given these days, the latter two ingredients are always a guarantee when it comes to my clients.

Brady came referred to me from Patrick and Lori whose wedding I did last year, June 14.  I met him early in the morning at Assiniboine Park wearing spandex (before you jump into any conclusions, let me explain: Brady is an avid cyclist and Patrick and him have, along with other friends, cycled all over the world together).

We didn't do spandex shots this time around (sadly) but that doesn't mean we didn't have a blast!

Julie is all class, stunning beauty and COMPLETELY in love with Brady!

Julie got ready at her parents' house and as soon as I walked in and saw this chandelier, I knew exactly what the focal point of "getting ready" would be: The Chandelier!

Julie had a vintage look going for the wedding and her dress shows her impeccable sense of style!

Even the ring boxes looked vintage:

    Beautiful shoes:

I heard someone saying (maybe one of her parents) something like: "wow, she really likes that chandelier!) I do!!!  If they ever don't want it anymore, I'll be happy to help them get rid of it!!!

Here you see the chandelier is even in the flower shot!

    The bridesmaids bouquet:

And here's just one of the many reasons Brady is also COMPLETELY in love with her:

Brady & Julie wanted to be photographed in the Exchange and asked their friend, Al to bring out his vintage Chrysler for the day.  Thank you, Al!

Here's the Brady bunch! (sorry, just couldn't resist!)

    The ladies!

Fabulous (if I must say so) tunnel shots!

    I love my job!!!

Classic Coca Cola bottles were on the menu.

    Shoes!

Just look at the detail on that dress!

    St Boniface Bridge:

    Ooooh...

I love this shot!  As Leonard is walking Julie (his youngest daughter, his baby) into the church, he quickly glances at her and you can just see his heart is on his sleeve...

Later at St Charles Golf and Country Club, we get some time alone with Al's Chrysler:

Julie and Brady love dancing together  - they make Foxtrot look GOOD!

And it's not a sunny day till we see some lens flare:

I love this shot of the dads socializing:

Now, enjoy your video, Julie and Brady.  And thank you so much for letting me be there and capture your magical, beautiful day!

And here's an image of the couple that started it all and obviously enjoyed their experience with me enough to refer me to Julie and Brady!

Thank you Lori and Patrick! All the best with your delivery and hope to hear from you when the baby is ready to be photographed!

Alison & Colter from Patty Boge on Vimeo.

I can't say enough good things about this family.  But you see, they came referred from another couple: Melodie & TJ, so I knew it had to be a good thing!  I met Alison and Carol in my home and upon realizing that they were absolutely crazy, I knew we'd get along just fine.

Then I heard how this wedding celebration was going to happen and I couldn't wait for August 20th to arrive...  Alison & Colter invited their friends and family over to Pinewood Lodge for the whole week, to stay in the cottages or the Lodge itself and enjoy canoeing, hiking and whatever else their hearts desired!  Then smack dab in the middle of it (on a Thursday) Alison & Colter would get married!

And this is a wedding 10 years in the making!  Alison & Colter have known each other forever, been together since High School and waited patiently till school was finished to tie the knot!  How lucky is that!  Mind you, luck never has anything to do with love...

Words are good and all, but I think we need to just get on with the images that tell the story!

    Here's Colter!

Colter's boys left to right: Jessie, his brother (who is trouble, by the way!),  and Clint (whose pants I had to iron right before the pictures because he didn't know how!!!)

Here they were joined by the ushers, and even though they have their backs to the camera you can still pick out Jessie!!!

    I love these!

    The pretty girl!

We did these shots on Alison's grandmothers lake property.  The place is absolutely beautiful.  Her auntie Gail does a fantastic job of keeping it up!

Have you ever seen such beautiful outhouse?

Alison being sassy on the road!

I saw this sign at Pinewood Lodge... What do you think it means?  Land him? Him who?

Alison & Colter didn't see each other until after the ceremony.  Even though that's a tricky thing to do when you're having your wedding on a weekday, out of town, Alison (& Carol) were very smart to ask me just how much time I needed for the pictures after the ceremony before they went in for dinner.  As a result of proper planning, we ended up with these awesome shots!

I love going to places that I've never been to before!  I always see things that would otherwise go unnoticed, like this:

Alison was trying hard to be serious!  How hard is that on the happiest day of your life though???

    Very!!!

This next image shows their joy walking into the reception!  I'm not sure what I like more: Alison or Sparky's look of excitement and clapping (far right) watching them walk in!

Jason (former Blue Bomber) was a very important part of the night and is a very important part of Alison's family.  I can't wait to hear the whole story, but it has something to do with Carol being a die-hard Bomber fan in 1995...

Oooh, and you HAVE to love the dancing shots!

Thank you Alison, Colter, Carol and the whole Fossay/Milne clan for inviting me to this fabulous wedding!  I have a feeling we'll be in each other's lives for quite some time yet!

All the best in your journey together!
